Local search guide
Get the business details right.
A useful local profile starts with information the business can stand behind. Prepare the facts before changing the listing.
Use the business as it exists
Google’s Business Profile guidelines call for accurate real-world business information. Profile eligibility and address or service-area settings depend on how the business actually serves customers. An online audience alone does not establish a physical location.
Prepare the source information
- The public business name and the services actually offered.
- Current contact information and an accurate customer-facing website.
- The real operating arrangement: customer visits, service-area work, or both.
- Access held by the responsible business owner.
Review before making a change
Compare the profile with your current records. Resolve contradictions with the owner instead of guessing. Keep a record of the existing information and the reason for any proposed correction.
Read the current platform guidance
Check Google’s published rules before deciding eligibility or changing location information. This guide does not establish that any particular business qualifies.
